In order to give you a better idea of costs, solo flight usually occurs after 40 to 50 flights with an instructor, although frequency and aptitude may shorten or lengthen this time.
Ab-initio students usually spend approximately $3,800 towards achieving solo flight and learning some basic soaring techniques; a further 30 solo and a few dual check flights are usually sufficient to qualify for a Glider Pilot License.
An additional $1,700 to $2,200 normally is required to get you from solo to licensed (manuals, ground briefings and ground school account for about $275 in the training program).
