First Solo Glider Flight - July 30, 2007

Congratulations to Devon Leggitt who has just completed his first solo flight in our L-23 Blanik sailplane. Devon started his glider pilot training, with Pemberton Soaring Centre Ltd. on July 16th and had acquired 52 dual instructional flights before going solo. For those who learn to fly, that first solo flight is a significant event that will be remembered always. At the age of 17, Devon is well on his way to becoming a licensed Glider Pilot.

Eric Ridington's First Solo Glider Flight - July 4th, 2007

Congratulations to Eric Ridington who flew his first solo flight in a glider on July 4, 2007. Eric who is also learning to fly helicopters with Chinook Helicopters has been really enjoying the gliding experience. He has acquired 20 solo flights and has even proven his knowledge and skills with a 1 hour 30 minute soaring flight, on his 13th solo. Eric will now be working towards getting ready for his test flight with Rudy Rozsypalek the owner/operator and chief flying instructor of Pemberton Soaring Centre Ltd..

Region 8 Gliding Contest

Three local pilots who fly at Pemberton Soaring Centre have done well at the Region 8 Gliding Competition, which was held in Ephrata Washington from July 2nd to July 8th. You can check Martin Dennis, Mike Thompson and Denis Vreeken's results on the Soaring Society of America's website.
